8 December 2009 One Comment

Weeqender words of the gay WEEK3

We are taking  the lessons up a notch as we learn not two but 10 gays words.

Let’s count from one to 10 in gay lingo.

Numbers

Gay lingo – English meaning (Filipino meaning

JISA – One (isa)

KROLAWA – Two (dalawa)

SHOTLO – Three (tatlo)

KYOPAT – Four( apat)

JIMA – Five (lima)

KYONIM – Six (anim)

NYOTERT – Seven (pito)

WALOCHI – Eight (walo)

SYAMERT – Nine (siyam)

KROMPU – Ten (Sampu)

To illustrate how to count in gay lingo, read the lyrics of the folk song called Tagu-taguan (hide and seek).  This is sung by the ‘it’ to give the other players time to hide. As kids, my playmates and I used to sing the Filipino or original version whenever we play hide and seek, and we even count up to 20, depending on how big our play field was and how difficult it was to find a good hiding spot.

The gay version of the song is taken from an episode of Bubble Gang, a long-running local gag show.

Tagu-taguan (Hide and seek)

Shogu-shoguan – Hide and seek (Tagu-taguan)

Ning ning galore ang buwan – Under the full moon (Kabilugan ng buwan)

Pagcounting ng krompu – After I’ve counted to ten (Pagbilang ng sampu)

Naka-shogu na kayey – All of you should have hidden (Nakatago na kayo)

Mga beki, andetrax na si atashi –  I’m coming kids! (Mga bata, andyan na ako!)
